BODY
Structural Steel: ASTM A572 and ASTM A607, GR50
50,000# minimum yield - 70,000# minimum tensile.
Top and Bottom
Side Rails:
6061-T6 extruded aluminum, one piece. Top: 2.388 lbs/ft. Bottom: 2.43 lbs/ft.
Side Panels: 8 mil thick polyethylene plastic sandwiched between .019" thick pre-painted white steel outer and inner panels. Vertical logistics post, "A" slot on 49 7/8" intervals, logistic posts are 14 gauge.
Side Stiffeners: Duraplate side panels are 48" long attached with .050" thick aluminum side stiffeners, pre-painted white attached with 1/4" steel rivets on 2" centers.
Roof: One piece .040 aluminum, bonded to bows Roof Bows: Located on 24" centers and 14" centers in the bay area. Each bow is 16 gauge hot dipped galvanized steel, 1" x 4 3/16", anti snag design
Corner Radius: 1/8" thick extruded aluminum, mill finish.
Front Panels: .050 prepainted white 5052-H291 aluminum smoothside construction covering the entire front wall.
Front Posts: Front wall will consist of four 2' thick, 5" wide, 14 gauge hat sectioned posts with two extruded aluminum, 5" radius corner posts.
Rear Doors: Newcourt full opening swing doors with 3/4" A-C plywood core, .025 prepainted white aluminum outer panels, 26 gauge hot dipped galvanized steel inner panels with Dual Sealer balloon gasket. One locking bar per panel, four hinges per door. "T" type door holdbacks not acceptable. 3/8" ribbed neck carriage bolts with lock nuts and anti-theft fasteners package used on hinges and locking bars.
Rear Frame Structure: To include shallow rear header and rear light protection. Open section frame. Rubber dock bumpers required. License plate bracket to be mounted on roadside.
ICC Bumper: DOT approved, bolted on. ICC bumper to have a non-skid surface consisting of raised holes on the top of the ICC bumper on both sides and middle and drain holes on the underneath. ICC bumper to also have "dock lock" capability. Must meet all current TTMA Recommended Practices and proposed TMC RP 707 concerning underride protection in effect at time of manufacture. Must meet all current state and Federal requirements.
Crossmembers: 4" 80,000# PSI, "I"-beam steel crossmembers on 12" centers with steel connections separated from the aluminum bottom rails with electrolytic corrosion barriers between dissimilar metals; on 6" centers at last 48"/.092 web thickness, 2.25" flange, 2.63" section modulus. Heavy duty hat sections from upper coupler to landing gear.
Flooring: Full 1 3/8" laminated oak hardwood. Three screws per board per crossmember. 12" wide intermediate boards. All boards to be full length to within 111" of the front wall. 1/8" x 24" diamond plate crash plate with recessed or tapered edge. Pre-undercoated floor only.
Floor Rating: 16,500 lb. minimum forklift rating per TTMA RP-37.
Side scuff: 6.5" corrugated steel above extended base rail on both sides, total 12" high.
Front Lining: 3/4" B-C or better exterior grade fir plywood completely covering the front wall behind 12" high, 7 gauge, smooth steel, skip welded to coupler. The 12" high plywood behind the scuff should be cut 12" for ease of replacement of the plywood above.

UNDERFRAME
Kingpin Assembly: Full width 5/16" hi-tensile steel coupler plate. Full width 3/16" pickup plate minimum 7 gauge steel. Entire coupler to meet AAR specifications.
Kingpin: Conforming to SAE standards and AAR approved. Domestically manufactured kingpin only.
Landing Gear: 2 speed, 50,000# dynamic, 170,000# static load capacity conforming to AAR specifications with mounting brackets spanning minimum of six crossmembers with roadside crank. Jost with "No maintenance option" 10" x 10" cushion foot sandshoes. Landing gear tranversal bracing to be "K" configuration, fore and aft leg bracing also required. Landing gear braces to be bolted to legs and landing gear subframe with 5/8" Grade 8 bolts. 138" from front of trailer to center of landing gear.
Tire Carrier: Single basket type for 22.5 tires, welded to crossmembers in bay area, towards curbside. Tire chain to be welded to tire carrier.

RUNNING GEAR
Tires: 295/75 R 22.5 Goodyear Wingfoot. Metal flow through valve caps required, Meyers V2-B
Wheels, hubs and drums: 8.25 x 22.5 TWO handhole hub piloted disc wheels, painted white mounted onto ten stud hubs. Accuride wheels and Dayton hubs and drums preferred. Outboard mounted cast drums, 107# minimum.
Axles: Meritor TQ4670 with 5" round 5/8" wall, 25,000# beam capacity, 77 1/2" track.
Hubodometer: Stemco, Engler, mounted on curbside rear axle, measures miles and tenths, bracket mounted only.
Oil Seals: Stemco Guardian with Chicago Rawhide Zytel solid hubcaps for use with Amoco synthetic grease.
Brakes: 16 1/2" x 7" quick-change with TSE omnibrake 3030T spring operated parking brake chambers with orange out of adjustment stroke indicator and Meritor MA 212 "Q" plus non-asbestos brake lining Meritor 28 tooth automatic slack adjusters. Valves and tanks per Sealco drawing P-4807 3/8" O.D. Supply Line. All tank, valve, and brake chamber fittings are to be swivel type. Trailer must meet DOT and FHWA brake timing requirements.. Meritor / Wabco 2S/1M anti-lock braking standard system without tool or cable. ABS must be capable of external diagnostics. ABS must meet all NTHSA requirements for trailers manufactured after March 1, 1998
Suspension: Turner HK-190 air ride suspension with self leveling height control valve and anti-walk capability ("Surelok") to eliminate "Dock Walk" with K-2 slider.
Slider: Turner K-2 four pin with phenolic impregnated resin slide pads and bogie stops front and rear. Slide rails to be welded to crossmembers and rear frame. Break away stop bars front and rear. Slide range must enable centerline of rear axle to be 39 feet from kingpin.
Mudflaps: (2) 24"x 30" rubber mudflaps with Trailer Fleet Services logo, available from Lott-Ridge Rubber Company or Mitchell Rubber Products. Flaps to be mounted to rear of bogie.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Lights: Clearance and marker lights to be Trucklite per Trucklite Drawing 323951CO. Trucklite 19200 ABS light with "ABS" decal above.
Wiring: 12 volt sealed system, externally accessible, not mounted through crossmembers.
Connectors: 7 way ATA Plug part #15-7629 with split pins and removable cover. Circuit breakers included. All wires to be minimum of twelve gauge. All connections to be modular, plug in, fixed gladhands, non-recessed, roadside mount. Service gladhand to be Phillips "Quick-E" pressure relieving gladhand, Phillips 12-236 Quick-E decal not to be installed. Emergency gladhand to be 12-138. Air and electrical lines will run through the front of the kingpin assembly and be covered with a removable, aluminum hat section on the front closure. The hole in the kingpin assembly must be smooth and a rubber gasket should be installed in it to eliminate chafing of air lines.

FINISH
Paint: Underside of floor and all lower steel parts including crossmembers, and inside of upper coupler area accessible by drain holes, suspension, axles, subframe and landing gear (except crank handle) to be coated grey Ziebart. All steel parts to be dry and free of grease, dirt and surface rust prior to painting. Powder coat white on the rear frame and kingpin area.
Steel to Aluminum Protection: All dissimilar metal connectors to be separated by a corrosion resistant material, including door hardware to door connections.
Decals: Furnish and install the following decals available from Ariston per drawing Trailer Fleet Services 97-1:
  1. FHWA decal installed roadside panel on lower front corner
2. 4 sets of (2) 3" x 5" numeral decals - one set front and one set rear exterior. One side each upper rear interior side wall (stencil only)
3. (2) Lessee responsibility 2" x 5" - one each, centered between wheels above bottom rail. Proper tire pressure must be stated on this decal Ariston part number 20GT8114SYN
4. (1) Lessor Trailer Fleet Services - 2 1/2" x 6" above roadside bottom rail 10' from front of van
5. (1) Caution height - 7 7/8" x 13 7/8" on roadside front corner post, 4' above KP plate
6. (1) Maximum fifth wheel height - 7 7/8" x 13 7/8" under decal mentioned above
7. (1) 53' decal on each side panel toward front
Also, include all material and labor necessary for compliance with NHTSA conspicuity requirements for trailers manufactured after December 1,1993.
Registration Holder: Trucklite 97960. Copy of registration and Massachusetts 53' permit furnished by Trailer Fleet Services to be placed in it.
Manufacturer's ID: VIN plate only
Placard Frames: Furnish and install placard side, front, and rear.
  Landing gear manufacturer's operation/preventive maintenance decal to be installed on roadside bottom rail above landing gear.
  Hub, suspension and slider manufacturer's operation/preventive maintenance decals to be installed on roadside bottom rail above landing gear.
  Valve manufacturer's anti alcohol and tractor governor pressure decals to be installed adjacent to gladhands.
FHWA Annual Inspection: Required. Copy of inspection report to be retained at trailer manufacturing facility for a minimum of two years. Manufacturers' FHWA decal to be completed and installed. Manufacturer to provide Trailer Fleet Services with a list indicating Trailer Fleet Services unit number, VIN, and month and year of inspection of each trailer.

FASTNERS
1. Aluminum side sheets to post - 1/4" aluminum rivets, 2" centers as laps, 2" centers elsewhere.
2. Crossmember to bottom rails -3/8" diameter grade 5 torx drive bottom head bolts, (4) per crossmember.
3. Roof bows to top rail - 1/4" diameter steel rivet, 1 per bow per side.
4. Roof sheet to top rail - 3/16" diameter aluminum 2117-T4 rivets on 2" centers.
5. Landing gear to Landing gear structure - 5/8" grade 8 hex bolts.
6. Kingpin assembly to bottom rail. Aluminum rivets and zinc plated bolts.
All fasteners must meet the Fastener Quality Act effective 5/22/1998.
