Jeff Ballew, Private Fleet Market Manager, answers: Trailer fleet visibility means you can see your fleet by having data about your fleet's location, status, maintenance cost, and compliance. And when you can see your fleet you can make the most cost effective and productive decisions.

Wal-Mart knows how important it is to have state-of-the-art supply chain visibility and that's why Wal-Mart recently chose GE for their tracking solution. Wal-Mart is currently adding GE's VeriWise™ Asset Intelligence system to their fleet of over 46,000 trailers, which will enable them to know at all times the whereabouts and the status (loaded/unloaded, open/shut) of their trailers and their contents.


Tim Yatsko, SVP Transportation for Wal-Mart, will be speaking at the National Private Truck Council conference next week and will likely talk about his need for an "information-based" approach to managing a supply chain.
