Fanelli Brothers Trucking using VeriWise to give customers peace of mindPOTTSVILLE, PA, January 20, 2006-Fanelli Brothers Trucking Company is now using GE's VeriWise Asset Intelligence system as an important new tool to improve both the company's performance and customer confidence. With its geographically diverse U.S. operations, Fanelli Brothers needs to know exact, daily trailer locations-whether on the road, being loaded at a customer's warehouse or in the company's Pottsville, Pa., or Muskogee, Okla., facilities. Fanelli Brothers has used VeriWise data from GE Trailer Fleet Services for the past year to maximize the efficiency of their operations and to constantly monitor the location and status of their growing fleet of trailers. Established in 1958 by brothers Louis and Fred Fanelli -- with just one truck to move goods and materials to New York City, and later the U.S. Mail -- the company now boasts a fleet of more than 200 trucks, 200 storage trailers, nearly half a million square feet of warehouse storage and 450 trailers-half of which are now equipped with the VeriWise asset intelligence system. According to company vice president Dominic Fanelli, the son of co-founder Louis Fanelli, VeriWise has been "very valuable" to the company's recent growth, and has enabled Fanelli Brothers to improve their operations as a premiere dry van carrier. "We have installed the VeriWise system on all of the newer trailers we have purchased or have leased from GE," said Fanelli. "As we replace our older trailers, they will also be equipped with VeriWise, because our customers want confirmations that our trailer-with their valuable goods inside-is on its way to the intended destination." "Before we equipped our trailer fleet with VeriWise, one of our trailers went 'missing' for more than nine months," said Fanelli. "It turns out the trailer was inadvertently picked up from a former customer site by another carrier and utilized by the other shipper before we were able to track it down and recover the asset. Had the trailer been equipped with VeriWise, we could have easily tracked it and returned it to our fleet." Fanelli also said the ability of the VeriWise system to advise when the doors of a trailer are opened, or when the unit is connected to a tractor, will enable the company to further understand how their assets are being used, especially those not physically located on their properties or in-transit. "Although we haven't started billing others for unauthorized use of our trailers in their possession, we are beginning to gather the data from the VeriWise system that would enable us to do so in the future," Fanelli added. With a nationwide customer base comprising Fortune 500 companies and mid-sized organizations producing everything from paper and plastics to beer, Fanelli said that offering asset intelligence-and GE's VeriWise system in particular-generates a competitive advantage for his company and adds a level of customer confidence in Fanelli Brothers performance that helps maintain and grow customer relationships and the business that follows.
