GE Launches Next-Generation VeriWise Web Interface for Trucking Industry

Includes customer-driven features, industry-leading functionality.

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA, April 30, 2007 - GE has launched the next generation of its VeriWise web user interface, an upgrade that leverages the latest asset intelligence technology to extend the application's industry-leading functionality. The announcement was made here at the annual National Private Truck Council meeting.

Rather than simply generate lists of trailers sorted in various ways upon request, the VeriWise website from GE identifies problems and ranks trailers, issues and landmarks based on user-defined criteria in real-time, and then actively presents information to the specific user. VeriWise is available exclusively through GE's Trailer Fleet Services business, from any branch or at www.trailerservices.com.

"Fleet and logistics operators don't want to have to sort through loads of unrefined data. They want actionable information and decision support in real time," said Thomas Konditi, President and CEO of GE's Asset Intelligence division. "Our solutions-based approach uses industry-leading hardware and sensor platforms, fused with user-friendly, rich applications and analytics, to deliver measurable ROI to our customers. We empower customers with knowledge at the point of decision so they can manage the exceptions with confidence."

The new VeriWise user interface application includes numerous new features and applications developed with direct input from fleet operations and technology leaders in the trucking industry. It is a customizable, feature-rich, user-friendly version of the Terion interface that has served as the model in the trailer fleet management business for the past seven years. GE customers will be able to view any trailer equipped with VeriWise TRUCKING Satellite or VeriWise TRUCKING Cellular solutions, whether it is owned, rented, or leased. The website features include:

  • Customizable Dashboard - Customizable home page featuring tables and/or charts of critical metrics. Each chart highlights significant operating metrics and links through detailed reports into trailer/location detail, allowing the user to quickly spot problems and then click through to the decision support information required to solve them.
  • E-Mail Reports - Exception reports created in the web application can be delivered via e-mail to a distribution list on a schedule established by the user, easily disseminating summary information to managers or customers. Recipients need not login and search for information - it is delivered to them.
  • Feature-Rich Mapping and Landmarking - Maps display current location, history, or selected history, and feature pop-up status information for each trailer/location on the map. Custom landmarks of all shapes and sizes can be drawn in a graphic user interface using simple mouse clicks.
  • Customization - Access levels can be controlled with great variety, allowing a user to see one, many, or all menu items in the site.
  • Security Features - Trailers can be locked down instantly or for special schedules, notifying users immediately when a trailer is moved unexpectedly. Additionally, using the Tractor ID feature, users can immediately be aware of unauthorized tractors hooking to their trailers.
  • Web Services - Interface to major dispatch applications allowing users to activate commands such as pinging or emergency tracking on a trailer. This can be done through their dispatch application rather than having to enter the website.

GE is focused on delivering measurable customer value, using asset intelligence solutions to streamline operations, optimize fleet utilization, enhance safety and security, prevent losses from damage and theft, instill preventative maintenance, and help enable regulatory compliance.
